"George
Bush is the president. Wherever he wants me to line up, I will."
- Dan Rather (independent and objective journalist?)
==> from interview with David Letterman!
you can do something!
for a few dimes and a few minutes,
help turn the tides of peoples' minds -- work on television media.
==> this is where most people get their ideas of what's going on in the world.
These are the numbers to the news desks where they expect people to call in and offer feedback and suggestions.
Tell them that you would like to hear a diversity of voices and perspectives. For example, "We want to hear the voices of people who oppose bombing, of people who oppose racist attacks, of people who oppose war. We want to hear how the history of U.S. foreign policy has cultivated the kind of resentment around the world torwards our government that is now coming to light."
Tell the news desk that you think that they are not thinking critically of their own coverage. "Where are the Pakastani voices?" "Where are the Afghanistani voices?"
Why is the TV media beating the war drum so loudly?
