Portland's Water in the Desert Festival

Portland's Water in the Desert Festival is an annual, multi-media, participatory event that is site-specific, free to the public that celebrates the power of art, ritual, ecology, and performance. The intention of organizers is to produce a festival of creations that are in dialogue with our natural resources that also highlight our contemporary social and ecological topics, while maintaining an emphasis on the essential element -- Water. These images present us with a slice of what life was like here in Portland during this time that we live in. Images from the gathering's culmination in North Portland's Cathedral Park offer us a valuable historical document which tells a story about some of the vibrant communities that give Portland its progressive and constructive culture.
